Let's Keep Talking: Strategies for Speech Expansion

REGISTERED USERS HAVE UP TO 8 WEEKS TO COMPLETE THE COURSE FROM THE DATE REGISTERED. After 8 weeks from the date of registration, the registered user's account becomes inactive if the course has not been completed.

Do you have learners with emerging speech, or perhaps their speech can only be understood by familiar people? Do you want to know how to expand this speech to be a form of functional communication? During this presentation, there will be a brief description of how to identify the learner's existing quality, quantity, and function of speech. Strategies to develop the speech of learners who have never used a picture-based system will be described, along with strategies for learners who may be transitioning to speech from PECS® or an SGD. Participants will have the opportunity to apply these strategies in an activity.
